Bharathanatyam

Bharathanatyam is one of the most cherished South Indian classical dance forms. It dates back to Vedic times and handed down from generation to generation. Later it was codified and documented as a performing art in 19th century by four brothers known as the Tanjore Quartet. Significance of Bharathanatyam lies in its very name i.e., derived from four words “Bha” from Bhava meaning emotion, “Ra” from Raaga meaning music / melody, “Tha” from Thaala meaning rhythm and “Natyam” meaning dance.
